One man's freedom fighter...
By the way, there's a difference between these fighters and the fighters that volunteered to go to Chechenya, Syria, and Afghanistan from the UK. Those were mercenaries and terrorists. These are freedom fighters. But of course.
You will point out that it is indeed different. The Muslim fighters that went to Chechenya were fighting against their government while these are fighting for. That is what makes a soldier a soldier (government sanction and approval) and not merely a mercenary or worse, a terrorist, even when he is shooting at people with the intent to kill. I agree with the reasoning. But the HM's government had not declared war with Chechenya then nor has it declared it with Russia now. So, how does that work?
As an interesting aside: Russia was involved in both the above wars, and it is the UK that has changed sides. Not Russia.
Caveat: I am anti-war in general, and neutral about the Ukraine-Russia conflict in particular. I have not made up my mind as to who is fighting the just war because both sides look like assholes to me from where I sit. Furthermore, it is a European war with one white country fighting another white country. We, as Indians, do not have the time nor the bandwidth to get involved. We have, to paraphrase, other fish to fry.
