Oh my darling, quarantine!

Does this kid look ill from any angle? Or does it look like she's on vacation, with cancelled classes, Baba available to read, Mamma to tell stories, Didi to stitch dresses for our Barbies, and the whole week to laze in the winter sun, interspersed with naps, with strawberries, chicken sandwiches, momos, mawa cakes, and Wai-Wai noodles being made available on demand and served promptly and without question at any hour, as we listen to our Walkman or to Alexa?

Ah! The advantages of being naïve by definition, happy by disposition, and eternally optimistic by inexperience, aka childhood.

How I envy her!

P.S: We recognise and understand this is privilege and that we, as parents, while dutifully providing her with such luxuries, also have another duty towards society to make her aware of what she has got as a winner of the genetic lottery so as not to raise an entitled adult. We are very aware of this, and for those who do not know us, or Kymaia, you will need to take our word for it: we are doing that too, in our own way, within our own limitations as humans and parents. That said, this is neither the time nor the place to bring it up, while we are tending to a sick child, who only looks healthy because she is asymptomatic, while needing all the care and medical intervention due to any Covid-positive patient. Thank you for understanding.
