Kyaa nautanki hai, yaar?

We are becoming Pakistan slowly.

“He who fights with monsters might take care lest he thereby become a monster. And if you gaze for long into an abyss, the abyss gazes also into you.”

The song and dance on the PM’s return from an at best lukewarm foreign trip is uncalled for. Indeed, even if he returned triumphant from a brilliant trip having secured India’s interests, song and dance does not become a democracy. Or indeed the ‘developed nation’ tag we seem to wear without any good reason nowadays.

We have already come close to Pakistan in economic, spiritual, democratic, institutional, social, religious, and moral terms. Now, we are aping their delusional foreign policy and their fantastical view of their nation abroad.

Soon, we will be there militarily and constitutionally. It’s a matter of time.
